Manager, Aircraft Maintenance
Job Purpose:
Responsible for managing and supervising all maintenance activities performed on aircraft and/or components, within the company's regulatory approved capability. Responsible to ensure all maintenance is performed in accordance with OEM approved data and in compliance with the Regulatory Authority and Metrojet safety and performance standards. Oversee the scheduling and timely completion of maintenance projects and utilize approved licenses and company approvals to run maintenance projects and return aircraft to service. He will, in association with other personnel, provide customers with daily information on aircraft maintenance-related schedules and status. The role will also lead the maintenance and appearance teams with a strategic objective to achieve Operational Excellence through leadership, cultural change and implementation of corporate business improvement strategies, tools, and techniques.
Key Accountabilities:
- Liaise with Head of Operations to establish and monitor the strategies and objectives to be followed to ensure that the Departmental goals are effectively achieved.
- Direct, motivate, develop and control the SCM team, ensuring that the staff is provided with the essential training and knowledge, in order to maximize their performance.
- Plan and monitor the yearly Maintenance operating budget to ensure both necessary resources are available, and costs are reduced to meet margin targets.
- Working with the Head of Operations to design and control a Maintenance Program for each company aircraft, approved by the National Aviation Authorities, to ensure that all scheduled maintenance is carried out on time by maintenance personnel in accordance with the maintenance program, pre-defined standards and compliant with mandatory Airworthiness Directives.
- Reviewing aircraft status daily with the Head of Operations and relevant operations personnel to ensure that all scheduled maintenance is carried out efficiently and on time.
- Develop good working relations with OEMs, contracted maintenance organizations and vendors.
- Negotiate cost competent maintenance contracts meeting desired quality of service.
- Supervise, motivate, and direct the Maintenance and supporting team, in liaison with the Head of Operations, to ensure the team performs efficiently.
- Ensure sufficient personnel are available for normal daily business and shift roster patterns are introduced as required.
- Ensure that the organization's procedures and standards are adhered to when carrying out maintenance.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of fixed costs and capital expense budget.
- Monitor and coordinate all unscheduled maintenance actions, providing recommendations to the maintenance personnel, to utilize allocated downtime in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure that aircraft crew members have the required support on maintenance related issues.
- Liaise with Planning Manager to provide additional solutions for associated systems discrepancies and improve maintenance action effectiveness.
- Close coordination and communication with the Head of Operations/Quality Assurance Manager/Planning Manager to ensure regulatory compliance
- Ensure that relevant departments from Flight Operations are informed of all maintenance related issues that could affect operations.
- Ensure Work Orders are released to service in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures to maintain aircraft safety, effective record keeping and Meeting target release date.
- Propose and develop internal procedures to be compliant with regulations, monitor compliance and effectively communicate any deviation to maintain department compliance with regulations.
- Ensure that the company's facilities, resources, and procedures meet its business needs and comply with the necessary regulatory standards and controls as follows:
- a. Facility is appropriate and prepared for the planned work
- b. Office accommodation appropriate for the management of the planned work
- c. Working environment appropriate for the tasks being undertaken
- d. Storage facilities appropriate for parts, tools, equipment, and materials
- e. Sufficient competent personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect, and certify the work being performed
- f. Sufficient tools, equipment, and materials to perform the planned tasks
- g. All necessary maintenance data are organized and filed
- h. Procedures to achieve and exceed satisfactory maintenance practices and compliance with regulatory requirements and Company polices
- Manage departmental structure, employee development, training, and planning
- Any other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Head of Operations.
- Job Specifications:

- More than 10 years in Aviation Industry experience, preferably on Business and/or Corporate Aviation
- More than 5 years of experience in managing a sizable engineering team, in an MRO environment
- Holder of FAA Maintenance License, and/or a bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, and type rated on supported Gulfstream and Bombardier products is highly preferred
- Liaison experience with the FAA, CAAP, HKCAD, EASA and other aviation authorities
- Strong background exposure with both domestic and international vendors
- Demonstrated and firm understanding of international travel, international customs, and practices.
- Working knowledge of inspection procedures, methods, equipment, and accepted industry standards.
- Previous International experience, namely in the Asia region an advantage
- Detail minded, excellent management skills, strong business acumen with reasonable level of financial literacy.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in English are essential.
